A small collection of family homes set within the village of Harpole, just outside Northampton. Each plot was designed around the needs of family living — generous room proportions, considered landscaping, and a premium specification carried through from structure to finish.
The Harpole development was designed with a focus on delivering homes that combine traditional character with modern efficiency, incorporating carefully selected technologies to enhance comfort and support sustainable living.
A key feature of the homes is the installation of high-efficiency, specialist log burners. Designed to provide an effective secondary heat source, these modern appliances offer low-emission performance while helping to reduce reliance on conventional heating during colder months. Their integration creates both an attractive focal point within the home and a practical contribution to energy-conscious living.
By combining quality craftsmanship with thoughtfully selected heating solutions, Optic Homes has created homes that balance timeless design with the practical demands of modern living, ensuring comfort, efficiency and long-term value for homeowners.
The Harpole development involved the transformation of a former plant nursery, presenting a number of unique site preparation and construction challenges before development could begin.
A significant element of the enabling works was the careful demolition and clearance of an extensive glass greenhouse that previously occupied much of the site. Due to the volume of glazing and associated structures, the works required meticulous planning, specialist handling and a phased approach to ensure the site was safely cleared and prepared for construction.
As part of the wider project, Optic Homes also undertook the demolition and replacement of an adjacent barn belonging to a neighbouring property. Working closely with the neighbouring owner, the project was carefully coordinated to minimise disruption while delivering a high-quality replacement structure.
The successful completion of these enabling works demonstrates Optic Homes' ability to manage technically demanding site preparation, collaborate effectively with neighbouring stakeholders and transform previously developed land into high-quality residential homes.
