OPTICHOMES
A pair of individually designed residences in the Northamptonshire village of East Haddon, each conceived as a one-off rather than a repeated type. The brief called for contemporary architecture with genuine longevity — reflected in a fabric-first approach to performance, with air source heat pumps specified from the outset to reduce running costs and environmental impact for decades to come.
Sustainability has been carefully integrated into the design of the East Haddon development, combining modern technology with high-quality construction to create homes that are both efficient and comfortable.
Selected homes incorporate roof-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and air source heat pumps, providing renewable energy generation alongside low-carbon heating solutions that enhance energy performance and support more sustainable day-to-day living.
In addition, selected properties have been fitted with air conditioning systems to improve internal comfort throughout the year. These systems have been thoughtfully integrated into the design, complementing the homes' contemporary specification while enhancing the living environment during warmer weather.
At Optic Homes, we believe that sustainability extends beyond energy efficiency alone. By incorporating practical, future-focused technologies where appropriate, we create homes that deliver long-term value, reduced environmental impact and an exceptional standard of modern living.
The East Haddon development required a tailored approach to both infrastructure and client delivery, with each challenge addressed through careful planning and close collaboration.
One of the primary engineering challenges was the absence of a suitable mains drainage connection. To provide a reliable and sustainable wastewater solution, a specialist Klargester treatment system was designed and installed, enabling the development to proceed while meeting all relevant environmental and regulatory requirements.
Beyond the technical infrastructure, the project was defined by its highly bespoke approach to homebuilding. Each property was designed to reflect the individual aspirations of its future owner, with clients given the opportunity to personalise internal layouts, finishes and specifications throughout the construction process.
Working closely alongside the homeowners and their appointed interior designer, the Optic Homes team coordinated every stage of the build to ensure each home was delivered in line with the client's vision. This collaborative approach enabled the creation of truly individual homes, combining exceptional craftsmanship with a personalised level of service rarely found within residential development.
The successful delivery of East Haddon reflects Optic Homes' ability to overcome technical site constraints while providing a bespoke, client-focused experience that results in homes tailored to each owner's lifestyle and aspirations.
